Shelter Performance - Tel Aviv Apr 2017visual performer, 3 saxophones ,tape and projector Shelter is a mixed-media collaboration piece between artist Shahd Zoubi and Dorone Paris.This piece focuses on womenâ€™s experience to war, our place as women in war and the silent anxiety and stress in those shelter. The creation of the piece began as we recalled our unique, yet similar experiences in bomb shelters. The piece combines testimonies of women, as mothers and daughters, in shelters in Israel and Palestine. Meanwhile a performer creates a shelter from parcel tape which slowly encompasses the audience. Assistants in the crowd, hand out sweet treats and sour fruits which were an indelible part of our Shelter experiences. Jul 2014 For the Lives of Our Children

Video Art. Dedicated to Ireland and the Irish people, in memory of the day peace was achieved. It aims to remind the Irish people of the devastating consequences of war so that they will continue to support other peace processes globally. Irelandâ€™s history of wars, whether civil or for its independence, terrorist attacks and killings of innocents, has shaped the country as it is today. For me personally, I see a direct comparison between Anglo-Irish history and the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After learning about Irish history and visiting historical sites, I was struck by the similarities of the histories of both conflicts. I was saddened, especially because it evoked childhood memories that were quite similar to the Irish events. For tenor and alto saxophones H.M. explores the political aesthetics of Finnissyâ€™s English Country Tunes through two wind instruments. H.M. addresses the subject of semiotics, its role and affect on music readers and listeners, while distinguishing the roles of both music participants from each other. The differences in experience between the listener and reader are specifically made out in order to break and provoke musical taboos as; classical playability of parts, provocative writing as well the closeness of our musical conceptions. H.M. is a psychological confrontation of all of these issues, all of which our society has decided to admonish. For Kanoon, Saxophone, Bouzuki, Trumpet & Actor Skin Peeled was the first piece that was composed as part of a political movement called PATH which is dedicated to a peaceful resolution to conflict in the state of Israel-Palestine. Skin Peeled explores contemporary sound using liturgical & folk Arabic and Jewish music modes. Therefore, sounds in the piece should be familiar to both Israeli and a Palestinian listeners, albeit disturbing and restless, the precise opposite of what this musical genre usually contains. The piece is divided into 3 movements each of which tells the story of Israel-Palestine while preaching for a political change and a different future for this land.
